BTMA’s new leadership assumes office for 2025–2027 term

Newly elected office bearers and Board of Directors of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) for the 2025–2027 term formally assumed office on Thursday, 18th December, 2025 through an official handover ceremony, marking the transition from the outgoing leadership.
The election results were earlier announced on November 25, 2025, by the BTMA Election Board at the association’s Gulshan office in Dhaka, in line with Clause BB 24(1) of the Trade Organization Regulations 2025.










Former BTMA President and Chairman of the Election Board, Jahangir Alamin, formally declared the names of the newly elected president, vice presidents and members of the Board of Directors, according to an official statement.
Showkat Aziz Russell, Managing Director of Amber Group, has been elected President of BTMA for the 2025–2027 term unopposed.
Three vice presidents were elected from different industry segments: Mohammad Shamim Islam from the Yarn Manufacturing category, Mohammad Abul Kalam from the Fabric Manufacturing category, and Shafikul Islam Sarkar from the Textile Product Processing category.
The newly elected Board of Directors includes Mohammad Badsha Mia, Sajid Israk, Mohammad Tanvir Khan, Mohammad Shahid Alam, Mohammad Khorshed Alam, Afroza Khanam, Ruhul Amin, Mirza Ahmed Ispahani, Naim Hossain, Rubayet Haider, Engineer Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed, Sanjia Chowdhury, Chowdhury Mohammad Hanif Soaib, Syed Elias Shiraji, Syed Rezwanul Haque, Mohammad Kawsar Hossain, Nur-e-Yasmin Fatema, Nadiruzzaman Khan, B M Shoaib, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Sohel Khan, Mahbubur Rahman (Monir), and Matiur Rahman.
The new committee is expected to focus on strengthening the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s textile sector, addressing ongoing challenges related to energy, financing and sustainability, and supporting the industry’s transition toward higher value-added production during its 2025–2027 tenure.
