China-Bangladesh exhibition expected to boost investment: Adviser Bashir

Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin said the 2nd China-Bangladesh Exhibition, inaugurated at ICCB on 12th Sep, Friday, will strengthen bilateral ties and significantly increase Chinese investment, which has already risen by nearly 300% in the past year.
The two-day event, jointly organised by the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka and CEAB, showcases opportunities in engineering, infrastructure, technology, logistics, energy, healthcare, and finance under the BRI framework.
Bashir said the exhibition is a platform for innovation, trade, and joint capacity building, expected to deepen economic cooperation and open new avenues of collaboration. He also sought Chinese support in improving Bangladesh’s road and transport infrastructure, noting the urgent need to reduce road accident fatalities.
On trade with the US, Bashir mentioned a US delegation will visit Dhaka Sunday to discuss progress on a potential trade deal and reducing the existing 20% reciprocal tariff.
