EU-Bangladesh coming meet-up in May in Brussels
The duty-free and quota-free (DFQF) access to the all-important European Union (EU) market under the Everything but Arms (EBA) will enter the next phase in 2024 with revised policies, Bangladesh is getting ready to answer EU’s queries on issues like protection of workers’ rights, democracy, etc., to ensure that the zero-duty market access to the 27-nation bloc continues beyond 2024, when Bangladesh would join the big league of developing nations.
Media reports maintained this citing sources in the Government while adding all these important issues will, reportedly, come up for discussion during the upcoming EU-Bangladesh Joint Commission’s 10th session to be held in Brussels from 18 to 20 May. In an earlier talk took place in Dhaka on March where they had to explain some issues like labour rights etc.
