FBCCI requested Army to enhance industrial security
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has requested assistance from the Bangladesh Army to combat extortion and enhance security around industries and business establishments. During a meeting with Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam expressed gratitude for the army’s efforts in patrolling industrial areas to ensure safety.
The Army Chief assured the business community of continued support, emphasizing the army’s commitment to securing the environment for both local and foreign investors. The request for military assistance comes in response to increased threats and extortion targeting businesses, particularly following the political unrest and fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5. In response to these challenges, the army established an industrial security cell on August 9 to safeguard industrial areas, with ongoing efforts to maintain economic stability and security.
