Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, managing director of Rising Fashions, has been announced as the Forum’s leader in the upcoming Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association election. Introduced at an event in Dhaka on November 20, Babu brings extensive industry experience, having previously served as BGMEA vice president and director, and holding leadership roles in BTMA and BKMEA.
Former BGMEA presidents, including Rubana Huq, attended the event, highlighting the importance of Babu’s leadership in addressing the garment sector’s challenges. Stakeholders emphasized the need for decisive leadership to navigate global and local pressures.
Babu stressed the necessity of a fair electoral process, advocating for timely elections and a transparent voter list. This follows the Ministry of Commerce’s dissolution of the BGMEA Board on October 20th and appointment of an administrator to oversee new elections within 120 days. Stakeholders believe Babu’s strategic approach can guide the sector through its current crossroads.
