Govt releases Tk 2,500 crore cash incentive ahead of Eid to support exporters

Government of Bangladesh has released Tk 2,500 crore in overdue Cash Incentive (CI) and Special Cash Incentive (SCI) funds to support the country’s exporters ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festival. The move aims to ease liquidity pressures in export-oriented industries, particularly the ready-made garment and textile sectors.

According to a Ministry of Finance notification, the funds were disbursed in two phases — Tk 1,500 crore on February 19 and another Tk 1,000 crore recently — as part of the third installment for the current fiscal year (2025-26). Export incentives are distributed through commercial banks, which will claim the funds from Bangladesh Bank to credit exporters’ accounts.

The government’s cash incentive schemes cover 43 export sectors, with incentives ranging from 0.30% to 10%, including a 1% special cash incentive for RMG exports.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) welcomed the decision, thanking the government and top officials for the timely release, saying it would help exporters meet wage, bonus and utility payment obligations during the holiday season.
