‘Livestream’ e-commerce grows faster in China

Livestreaming e-commerce sector in China is evolving rapidly, with a continuous surge in user engagement and revenue, as per a report jointly published by several institutions, including the National Institute of Metrology and the Science and Technology Research Centre of China Customs.

In the first half of this year, livestreaming sales on China’s major e-commerce platforms reached a staggering 1.27 trillion yuan ($176.9 billion). During this period, there were over 110 million livestreaming e-commerce sessions showcasing more than 70 million products as stated in a report from China.

Traditional best-selling categories like jewelry, sports and outdoor equipment, as well as clothing and underwear, continue to attract significant consumer interest on these platforms, as reported by state-controlled media.

The report recommends that e-commerce livestreamers enhance product quality control, optimize supply chain efficiency, and provide more personalized services to their customers.”
