Remittance collection were pretty high in February
BTJ Desk Report
In February, migrant workers sent home $2.16 billion, marking a 39 % increase compared to the same period last year, according to data from Bangladesh Bank (BB). This figure represents the highest remittance inflow in eight months since July of the previous year.
In June last year, the country recorded $2.19 billion in remittances, as per BB data. A record number of Bangladeshi migrants, totaling 13.05 lakh, ventured abroad for jobs in 2023, up from 11.35 lakh the previous year. The increase in remittance inflow for February can also be attributed to the fact that this year’s February had 29 days due to the leap year.
