TRZ Garments Industry Limited, a well-known clothing manufacturer located on Gacha Road in Gazipur, announced its closure recently. The company also confirmed the shutdown of its two sister companies, HN Garments Limited and Nowsin Garments Industries Limited, as stated by BGMEA acting President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam.
According to BGMEA sources, the closure was primarily due to the failure of mid-level management and a lack of cooperation from commercial banks. Despite these challenges, the factory owner has expressed intentions to resume business in the future, as this venture was his dream project.
The factory had already suspended operations on June 26th due to a liquidity crisis. Rafiqul Islam mentioned that the owner, Haroon Ar Rashid, sold his property to settle the workers’ dues. He described Rashid as a capable entrepreneur and expressed optimism that the company would eventually resume operations. Haroon Ar Rashid, who is also a member of the BGMEA board of directors, founded TRZ Garments in 1999. The company initially started with 400 workers and grew to employ 5,000 people, expanding to a 327,000-square-foot facility by 2009.
