$30.5m hydroponics tent factory to boost export diversification at BEPZA EZ

A Hong Kong–China-based firm, Green Pure Houseware BD Company Limited, is investing $30.47 million to establish a hydroponics greenhouse tent manufacturing facility at the BEPZA Economic Zone, marking a significant step toward Bangladesh’s industrial diversification.
The project, approved earlier this year by the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority, will be developed on six plots covering approximately 22,000 square meters. Construction is already underway, with commercial production expected to begin by March next year.
The facility will manufacture hydroponics tents—used in soilless farming systems—as well as EVA cabinet mats, cartons, and PE packaging materials, positioning it as a multi-product export-oriented hub. Annual production is projected at 400,000 to 500,000 units, targeting markets in the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Japan.
Industry stakeholders say the investment represents more than a new factory, highlighting its potential to reduce Bangladesh’s heavy reliance on the ready-made garment sector by introducing high-value, non-traditional export products with growing global demand.
The project is also expected to generate around 3,000 jobs, contributing to local economic development and supporting ancillary sectors such as logistics, housing, and services in the Mirsarai region.
Officials noted that the initiative aligns with BEPZA’s long-term strategy to attract foreign investment, promote product diversification, and develop high-tech manufacturing industries, further strengthening Bangladesh’s position in the global export market.
