RMG export surged 37% to EU

Bangladesh’s readymade garment exports to the European Union surged by 36.99% year-on-year to $3.69 billion in January–February 2025, driven by a strong 39.02% increase in shipment volume, according to Eurostat. However, unit prices fell by 1.46%, posing challenges to profitability.
The growth was supported by factors like higher value-added production, duty-free access, compliance improvements, and the EU’s economic recovery. While other major suppliers like China, India, Pakistan, and Cambodia also saw export growth, Turkey’s exports declined. Looking ahead, Bangladesh’s outlook remains positive, but sustaining competitiveness and improving value addition will be key for future growth.
