To facilitate the payment of salaries and bonuses to garment industry workers before Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh Bank (BB) has mandated that bank branches in industry-related areas remain open on a limited scale on June 14, 15, and 16.
This applies to branches in Dhaka metropolitans, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, and Narayanganj. Despite June 14 and 15 being weekly holidays and June 16 being a holiday for Eid, banks in these areas will remain operational to support the garment sector. BB also directed bank branches in Chattogram metropolitan and industrial areas to stay open for the same purposes and instructed banks to coordinate with local administration for adequate security. Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in Bangladesh on June 17.
