DCCI signs MoCs with Chinese chambers to deepen trade and investment links

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed Memorandums of Cooperation (MoCs) with three major Chinese business chambers in Guangdong to strengthen bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and China.

The agreements were signed with the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce of Importers and Exporters, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics Products, and the Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce for Outbound Business during a business delegation visit. Razeev H Chowdhury signed the MoCs on behalf of DCCI.

The partnerships aim to boost structured business-to-business engagement, promote joint ventures, and enhance market intelligence sharing across key sectors such as agro-processing, infrastructure, renewable energy, automotive, shipbuilding, light engineering, and high-tech industries including semiconductors.

Emerging areas like fintech, agritech, artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, and healthcare are also expected to benefit from closer collaboration.

The signing comes amid growing economic ties, with Bangladesh importing around $18 billion worth of goods from China last fiscal year, while Chinese investment reached approximately $1.7 billion, making China one of the country’s top foreign investors.

On the sidelines of the Canton Fair, the DCCI delegation also participated in a matchmaking event, holding meetings with nearly 270 Chinese companies to explore new sourcing and investment opportunities.

Business leaders from both countries expressed optimism that these agreements will strengthen supply chains, reduce trade barriers, and foster more balanced, value-added economic cooperation in the years ahead.
