EU commits €1 billion investment in Bangladesh, eyes doubling support

The European Union (EU) has pledged €1 billion in investments for Bangladesh, targeting critical sectors such as water, energy, transport, and health. The EU has also revealed plans to potentially double this amount in the coming years. The commitment was announced following a series of high-level stakeholder meetings in Dhaka last week, jointly organized by the EU Delegation to Bangladesh and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

In a statement shared via its official Facebook page, the EU delegation said, “Last week, the EU delegation to Bangladesh welcomed the European Investment Bank, Organising stakeholder meetings on ongoing investments and future plans to double financing.” The initiative reflects the EU’s broader strategic engagement with Bangladesh to support sustainable development and infrastructure growth, and to deepen economic cooperation between the two partners.
