First-ever 'Investor Meet' by Orange Corner

The Orange Corners initiative, a flagship project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, is making significant strides in promoting local entrepreneurship in Bangladesh. In collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy in Bangladesh and SAJIDA Foundation, the first-ever Orange Corners Investor Meet was organized to connect accomplished angel investors and ecosystem builders dedicated to supporting early-stage companies. The event, held at the Netherlands Embassy in Dhaka, provided a platform for the inaugural cohort of Orange Corners Bangladesh to showcase their innovations as they graduate from a transformative six-month incubation program.

Tanzila Tajreen, Senior Policy Adviser of Economic Affairs and Private Sector Development at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Bangladesh, delivered the welcome speech. Orange Corners Bangladesh, the first hub of its kind in Bangladesh and Asia and the 18th hub globally, plays a crucial role in promoting entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment, according to Tajreen.

The Investor Meet is not only a networking opportunity but also holds the promise of financial support for participating enterprises. Successful fundraising during or after the event makes these businesses eligible for matching grants up to €5,000 through the Orange Corners Program, with the potential for follow-on funding of up to €50,000, reflecting the program’s commitment to the long-term growth and sustainability of emerging businesses.

The first cohort, consisting of 14 promising businesses from various sectors, had the chance to present their innovations. These businesses, including BD Recycle Technologies Limited, TOYO, and Ecolery, may receive support and guidance from experienced professionals in the field, as highlighted in an engaging panel session featuring industry experts Sharawwat Islam, Sami Ahmed, Nazmul Karim, and Zareen Mahmud. The discussion focused on creating an environment that empowers and nurtures early-stage entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
