France aims to expand investment in Bangladesh

France has signalled a renewed interest in increasing its investment presence in Bangladesh, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sectors.
The commitment came from French Ambassador Jean-Marc Serre-Charlet during a meeting with Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin at the Ministry of Commerce in Dhaka on Monday, according to a ministry press release.
During the talks, the ambassador reiterated France’s longstanding efforts to strengthen bilateral trade relations and noted that French companies are actively seeking new avenues for collaboration in Bangladesh. He identified pharmaceuticals and ICT as two priority sectors where French investors see strong potential.
Commerce Adviser Bashir Uddin welcomed the growing interest from France, describing the country as an important and enduring trade partner. He added that both nations have considerable scope to further expand their trade volume and deepen economic cooperation.
