Global wind power capacity to reach 2.38 terawatts

Global grid-connected wind power capacity is expected to reach 2.38 terawatts by 2032. Growing demand in Western markets and Africa will accelerate wind power generation and supply. This information was reported by the international energy research institute Wood Mackenzie said ‘Khabar’, The National News.

“Wind power activity is increasing across North America, South America and Europe to meet the goals of national energy and climate plans,” said Luke Lewandowski, senior officer of Global Renewables Research. We are also following the progress of Africa’s megaprojects, which are driving this growth. This will help address some of the short-term challenges in all global offshore markets, particularly in China. ”According to Dr. Mackenzie, the growing wind power capacity in North America will reach 340,000 megawatts by 2032. The annual growth rate will be 7.6 percent. At the same time, it is forecasted to increase by 8 percent annually to 233 MW in Western Europe.

According to the report, wind power capacity in the Middle East and Africa will grow at an annual rate of 24.1 percent to reach 89,000 megawatts by 2032. During this period, Latin America is predicted to grow at an annual rate of 7.9 percent.
