Itema breaks ground on new manufacturing hub in Ponte Nossa, Italy

Itema Group has officially laid the foundation stone for its new manufacturing site in Ponte Nossa, on the historic grounds of the former Cotonificio Cantoni, unused since 2004.

The site acquisition in 2022 aimed to revive an abandoned industrial area in Seriana Valley and transform it into a world-class hub for weaving machinery and solutions, built on principles of sustainability, circularity, and efficiency. Construction will first focus on a new manufacturing plant to enhance production capacity and streamline Itema’s core weaving business.

CEO Ugo Ghilardi said the site will strengthen Itema’s global competitiveness, reinforce its “Made in Italy” brand, and complement the company’s historic Colzate headquarters. President Maurizio Radici emphasized that the hub merges vision, innovation, and sustainability while reaffirming Itema’s roots in Seriana Valley.

Later phases will include facilities for Lamiflex SpA and expanded innovation spaces, underscoring Itema’s commitment to both local development and international leadership in textile machinery. Investment significance: The project highlights Itema’s dual mission — preserving Bergamo’s industrial heritage while positioning itself as a long-term, sustainable partner for weaving mills worldwide.
