Japan assured cooperation in rebuilding damaged facilities
Japanese Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori assured cooperation in rebuilding facilities damaged in Bangladesh’s power, energy, and infrastructure sectors, including roads, highways, bridges, and railways. During a meeting with Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Fouzul requested budget support from Japan to help manage the rising costs of electricity and energy imports.
He also sought urgent assistance in renovating the Mirpur-10 and Kazipara metro rail stations, to which the ambassador confirmed that work had already started. The meeting also addressed the review of the integrated energy master plan and the establishment of an LNG land terminal. Senior officials from the Road Transport and Highways Department and the Power Department were also present.
