Messe Frankfurt expands into East Africa with three textile fairs from 2027

Messe Frankfurt has announced plans to strengthen its presence in East Africa by introducing three major international textile trade fairs in Nairobi from 2027, as part of the Africa Sourcing and Fashion Week.
The company will license its globally recognized brands—Texworld, Apparel Sourcing, and Texprocess—to be held annually within the ASFW platform in Nairobi.
The move reflects growing confidence in East Africa, particularly Kenya, as an emerging hub for textile and apparel manufacturing. Industry stakeholders cite strong government support, access to sustainable energy, skilled design capabilities, and shorter global supply chains as key advantages.
ASFW has already established itself as a leading platform for sourcing, networking, and investment in Africa’s textile sector. The addition of the three international brands is expected to significantly enhance its global visibility and strengthen its role as a bridge between international buyers and African manufacturers.
Organizers expect around 150 exhibitors and more than 5,000 trade visitors from over 50 countries at upcoming editions, with the expanded format positioning ASFW Nairobi as the region’s most important textile industry gathering.
Messe Frankfurt said the initiative aligns with its broader strategy to expand into high-growth markets and foster long-term, sustainable business partnerships, while supporting the development of Africa’s textile value chain.
