Pirelli Georgia Plant Expansion News

Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli plans to invest $1.2 billion to expand its manufacturing facility in Rome, Georgia, increasing production capacity and introducing advanced robotics and next-generation technologies.

The expansion is expected to create approximately five times as many positions as Pirelli currently employs across its Georgia operations. The company presently has 234 employees in the state across manufacturing, innovation and headquarters functions.

Claudio Zanardo, CEO of Pirelli North America, said the investment would strengthen the company’s US manufacturing capabilities and support its local-for-local strategy. The expanded facility will incorporate advanced robotics and technologies such as Cyber Tyre, Pirelli’s connected tyre technology, to meet growing market demand.

The project will proceed in two phases. The first will introduce the latest-generation robotics equipment, followed by the addition of a traditional manufacturing process that will require further recruitment. Pirelli expects most hiring to begin in 2029, with the expanded facility scheduled to reach full operations in 2033.

Pirelli established its US headquarters and manufacturing operations in Rome in 2002. The latest investment will further strengthen its presence in North America and reinforce Georgia’s role in the automotive supply chain.

The expansion is expected to bring additional manufacturing capabilities and employment opportunities to northwest Georgia while supporting Pirelli’s long-term growth in the US market.
