Saudi Arabia shows strong interests to get more economic ties with Bangladesh

Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Bangladesh Essa Yousef Essa Al Duhailan emphasized strengthening economic ties between the two nations, highlighting growing business interest in investing in Bangladesh, particularly in logistics, services, and renewable energy. During a meeting with Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus, the ambassador praised Yunus’s leadership, expressing confidence in his ability to lead Bangladesh to prosperity.
The ambassador noted the significant contribution of 3.2 million Bangladeshi workers in Saudi Arabia, who send $5 billion annually in remittances through official channels. He stressed the importance of channeling all remittances officially to boost Bangladesh’s economic growth. Additionally, the ambassador discussed renewing passports for 69,000 undocumented Bangladeshis in Saudi Arabia and mentioned the Makkah Route Initiative to simplify immigration for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. Prof. Yunus expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support and leadership in enhancing bilateral relations.
