Overall lower capacity growth and short-staple fiber consumption: ITMF

Global number of installed short-staple spindles reached 232 million units, while installed open-end rotors increased to 9.7 million. Capacity expansion remains heavily concentrated in Asia.

Number of installed air-jet spindles rose sharply to 637,000 units, with Türkiye recording the most significant capacity growth outside Asia. Installed shuttle-less looms grew to 1.7 million units.

Total raw material consumption in the short-staple organized sector declined slightly to 43 million tons. Notably, global consumption of raw cotton and cellulosic short-staple fibers fell by 4.4% and 2.9%, respectively, while synthetic short-staple fiber consumption increased by 0.5%.
