Non-Cotton garments capture 30.7% of Bangladesh’s export market

Bangladesh’s non-cotton garment exports accounted for 30.7% of the country’s total apparel exports during January–September 2026, driven by growing demand from international clothing retailers and brands, according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data.
The country’s total garment exports reached $29.91 billion during the nine-month period, including $9.17 billion from non-cotton products and $20.75 billion from cotton garments.
The share of non-cotton garments increased from a monthly average of 28% in January and February to 31.6% in June. It peaked at 34.6% in August before easing to 32.6% in September.
Non-cotton garment exports recorded their highest monthly value in July, reaching $1.31 billion.
Despite the growing contribution of non-cotton products, cotton garments remained the backbone of Bangladesh’s apparel export sector, with monthly export values ranging from $1.97 billion to $2.6 billion during the period.
