Bangladesh and Nepal are keen to boost bilateral trade
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Nepalese Commerce Minister Damodar Bhandari held discussions on bilateral issues of mutual interest at a hotel in Nepal. They emphasized the importance of facilitating communication between Banglabandha in Bangladesh and Kakarbhita in Nepal by land, as well as expanding trade between the two countries.
The state minister noted that Kakarbhita land port is 37 kilometers away from Banglabandha land port and discussed the possibility of Nepal accessing Bangladesh directly through 37 kilometers of Indian Territory, with the cooperation of Bangladesh, India, and Nepal. Additionally, the state minister visited the Phuentsholing border of Bhutan through Banglabandha Land Port and discussed trade expansion with Bhutanese officials. Officials from the Bangladesh Land Port Authority and the Bangladesh Embassy in Nepal were also present during the meeting with the Nepalese commerce minister.
