APS Knit Composite obtained Gold LEED certification

APS Knit Composite Limited, a Bangladeshi garment factory situated in Gazipur’s Kamargaon area, has recently been awarded the prestigious Gold LEED certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Scoring 71 out of 110, as assessed by the USGBC, this certification underscores the factory’s commitment to sustainability in building design, construction, and operation.

This achievement adds to Bangladesh’s growing list of environmentally conscious garment factories, bringing the total number of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified factories in the country to 214. Among these, 80 have attained Platinum status, while 120 have secured Gold certification, as reported by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).

In the year 2024 alone, eight Ready-Made Garment (RMG) factories in Bangladesh have been honored with LEED certification, comprising four Platinum and four Gold certifications, announced BGMEA President Faruque Hassan.
