Bangladesh permits duty-free raw material imports for partial exporters

Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue (NBR) has allowed partial export-oriented industrial units to import raw materials duty-free, provided they furnish a bank guarantee.
This move benefits exporters who cannot obtain a bonded warehouse licence, enabling them to import raw materials or goods without paying customs duties upfront. Companies must submit a bank guarantee equivalent to the assessed customs duties to access this facility.
The decision aims to boost production capacity, diversify exportable products, and expand Bangladesh’s exports, supporting the growth of export-oriented industries.
