RMG export declined 24% to US market

Bangladesh’s garment exports to the United States witnessed a 23.33% year-on-year decline, amounting to $5.77 billion in January-September. This dip is attributed to a slowdown in demand in the U.S., coupled with the accumulation of stocks. In the same period of 2022, exporters had earned $8.28 billion. When textile and apparel shipments are considered together, the combined earnings stand at $5.92 billion, reflecting a 23.88% decrease.

The United States serves as the largest export destination for Bangladesh, with garment items worth $10.02 billion shipped in the previous year.
