Manufacturers doubt in recent EPB data which showed 4.39% increase in exports

In the current fiscal year (July’23-March’24), Bangladesh exported more than $43.55 billion worth of goods, which is over 4.39% higher than the same period last year when exports were $41.72 billion, according to data from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) gathered by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

However, exporters are not entirely satisfied with the statistics released by the EPB. They argue that the monthly export reports published by the EPB do not accurately reflect the actual situation faced by export-oriented enterprises. Despite the reported increase in exports in terms of dollars, some factories are experiencing a decline in exports. This discrepancy raises questions about the accuracy of the data and the actual growth in exports.
