Apparel exporters receives much lesser orders as production cost rises

Apparel exporters in Bangladesh are experiencing a 25-40% decline in orders due to an energy crisis, rising production costs, and shipment delays. Costs have increased by 20-33%, while global buyers offer prices up to 20% lower, leading many exporters to skip orders.

Competitor countries like India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are attracting buyers with lower prices. The sector anticipates a 7% sales drop in the peak winter season. Exporters like Windy Group and Envoy Textiles report significant challenges, with many factories running below capacity. Export figures for the last ten months were overstated by about $11 billion.
