Asia’s leading trade growth led by Vietnam, Indonesia, India and the Philippines: DHL

According to the DHL Trade Atlas 2025, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines are projected to rank among Asia’s top 30 nations for trade growth rate and volume between 2024 and 2029. South Asia and ASEAN are expected to witness the fastest trade expansion, despite global near shoring trends.
India is set to maintain its third-place ranking in trade volume while climbing from 32nd to 17th in trade growth speed, with its annual trade volume growth rate increasing from 5.2% to 7.2%. The country is expected to contribute 6% to global trade growth, following China (12%) and the U.S. (10%).
Vietnam is forecasted to achieve a 6.5% annual trade growth rate, climbing to fifth place in trade scale rankings. Indonesia is expected to retain its 12th position in scale but rise from 33rd to 25th in trade speed. The Philippines is set for a significant leap, jumping 114 spots to 15th in speed and from 68th to 30th in trade volume.
South Asia and ASEAN will lead global trade expansion with Compound Annual Growth Rates (CAGR) of 5.6% and 5.0%, respectively, outpacing North America and Europe’s projected 2.7% growth.
