Cotton innovation and sustainability to lead discussions at Bremen Cotton Conference 2026

Bremen Cotton Conference will highlight the growing role of cotton as a high-performance and sustainable material when it takes place from March 25–27, 2026 at the Bremen Parliament Building.
Organized by the Bremen Cotton Exchange, the 38th edition of the conference will focus on innovations that are expanding cotton’s applications beyond traditional apparel. Experts will present new developments in cotton functionalization, circular textile waste conversion, natural fiber composites and halogen-free flame-retardant technologies.
Researchers and industry specialists will discuss how cotton textile waste can be transformed into valuable bio-based materials. Cotton Incorporated will showcase processes that convert cotton waste into glucose, enabling its use as a platform for producing value-added products within a circular economy framework.
The conference will also address the growing market for natural fiber-reinforced composites and new fire-safety solutions for plant-based materials. Scientists from the German Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research North-West (DTNW) will present halogen-free flame-retardant systems designed for advanced technical applications.
Industry experts will further highlight technologies aimed at improving the performance of 100% cotton fabrics, including enhanced breathability, insulation and stretch. The event is expected to provide manufacturers, researchers and developers with insights into how cotton is evolving into a versatile raw material for future sustainable and technical textile applications.
