Patuakhali EPZ to begin plot allocation in early 2026

Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) will start allocating industrial plots at the under-construction Patuakhali EPZ from the first quarter of 2026, ahead of the project’s full completion in June.
Located on 410 acres in Auliapur, Patuakhali, the country’s first EPZ in the southern region will offer 306 plots, aiming to attract $1.53 billion in investment, generate $1.83 billion in exports, and create 100,000 direct jobs. Proximity to the Payra Sea Port is expected to boost its logistical advantage.
Key infrastructure, including factory buildings, residential facilities, customs and security offices, and water management systems, is already 80% complete. The Tk 1,442.78 crore project, approved in 2023, is jointly financed by government funds and BEPZA. Officials say the EPZ will foster a business-friendly environment, while locals hope it will curb unemployment and reduce migration to Dhaka.
