Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) deployed 33 platoons of personnel across industrial areas in Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj on 8 November amid growing concerns over workers’ unrest.
The deployment is aimed at maintaining security in industrial zones and preventing any untoward incidents, BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam said.
BGB personnel have been assigned to Savar, Ashulia and Mirpur in Dhaka; Shibu Market, Jalkuri, BSCIC Industrial Estate, Chashara, Kanchpur and Shimrail in Narayanganj; and Chandra, Palli Bidyut, Mouchak, Ambagh, Kashimpur, Naojor, Bhogra Bypass, Gacha and Salna in Gazipur.
The deployed personnel are maintaining vigilance in coordination with local administration and police to ensure law and order in the industrial areas.
Meanwhile, a monitoring cell at BGB headquarters is overseeing field operations around the clock through technology-based systems, including live video footage.
Shariful said the deployment and surveillance activities would continue to protect lives and property, maintain security and help ensure a normal working environment in the country’s major industrial zones.
