SDC opens entries for the 2025 Global Colorist Award

The Society of Dyers and Colorists (SDC) has officially opened entries for the Global Colorist Award 2025, celebrating outstanding talent and creativity in the coloration industry. This prestigious award is dedicated to recognizing early-career colorists—professionals who have been in the industry for less than a decade—who are shaping the future of color science and application.
Honoring innovation across the coloration industry
The Global Colorist Award highlights the industry’s expertise, innovation, and diversity. It is open to professionals working across a wide range of sectors involved in coloration, including textiles, dyes and pigments, leather, food, paint, production dyeing, shift dyeing, and printing. By acknowledging excellence in these fields, the award sets a benchmark for those driving advancements in color technology and application.
Key Dates and Award Presentation
- Entry submissions opened on February 1, 2025, and will close on June 30, 2025.
- The winner will be announced in mid-September and formally recognized at the SDC Day of Celebration in October 2025 in the UK.
Recognizing Outstanding Achievements
The previous award winner, Joanna Kay from Heathcoat Fabrics Ltd., Tiverton, UK, was honored for her technical expertise, creativity, and dedication to achieving Associateship of the SDC while balancing full-time work. Her contributions to enhancing dyeing processes, refining formulations, and bridging the gap between design and technical teams were particularly commendable.
Prestigious Prize and Career Advancement Opportunities
The Global Colorist Award 2025 winner will receive:
- A £ 1,000 cash prize, generously sponsored by Advanced Chemical Holdings Ltd., Haslingden, UK.
- A fully funded trip to the UK to attend the awards ceremony, providing invaluable networking and career development opportunities.
- Feature coverage in The Colorist magazine, spotlighting their achievements and contributions to the industry.
SDC emphasizes that this award is an unparalleled opportunity for colorists specializing in development, application, testing, color management, and quality control to gain global recognition. The only eligibility requirement is that entrants must be in the first 10 years of their career.
As the coloration industry continues to evolve, the Global Colorist Award serves as a platform to celebrate those who push boundaries and drive innovation in color technology worldwide.
