EPB signs strategic deal with Yunnan to boost Bangladesh–China trade

Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has signed a major MoU with the Department of Commerce of Yunnan Province, creating new opportunities for Bangladeshi exporters to enter China’s southwestern market.
Signed during the Mekong–Lancang Fruit Festival in Kunming, the agreement offers Bangladeshi enterprises rent-free bonded warehouses (up to 2,000 sq. ft.), rent-free exhibition space, and free access to Yunnan’s online commodity city, easing both physical and digital market entry.
The cooperation also includes lower logistics fees, fast customs clearance for fresh produce, and preferential air freight policies—benefits expected to support key sectors including agro-products, processed foods, apparel, leather goods, and handicrafts.
A nine-member Bangladeshi fruit exporter delegation joined the festival for the first time, marking Bangladesh’s entry into an important regional agri-trade platform.
Trade analysts say the deal offers a rare cost-effective export corridor but stress that Bangladesh must improve product quality, digital marketing skills, and cold chain management to fully benefit from the opportunity.
