Dhaka gears up for major textile showcase as BTKG expo 2026 kicks off April 29

A press conference was held on April 25 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka to announce the upcoming Bangladesh International Textile Knitting and Garment Industry (BTKG) Expo 2026, scheduled to take place from April 29 to May 2 at the International Convention City Bashundhara.

The four-day exhibition is being jointly organized by the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association and Inforchain Digital Technology Co Ltd.

The press briefing was attended by key industry figures, including BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem, BTKG Convener Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Executive Director of Inforchain Spencer Lin, and CEO of Alliant Limited Rubaiyat Ahsan, alongside BKMEA leaders and media representatives.

In his keynote address, Hatem underscored the importance of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector, noting that it generated approximately $39 billion in export earnings in the 2024–25 fiscal year—accounting for over 80 percent of total national exports. He added that the sector contributes around 12% – 13% to GDP and provides employment to more than four million people.

Highlighting future challenges, he stressed the need for greater adoption of advanced technology, efficiency, and sustainable practices to maintain global competitiveness. He expressed optimism that platforms like BTKG Expo would support industry transformation and unlock new growth avenues.

The upcoming exhibition will host over 1,000 exhibitors from around 30 countries, spanning more than 20,000 square meters with over 1,200 booths. Participating nations include China, India, Japan, Türkiye, Malaysia, the UAE, and several European countries.

The expo will showcase a wide range of innovations, including textile machinery, dyes and chemicals, knitting and weaving technologies, embroidery systems, and cutting-edge garment manufacturing equipment.

In addition, seminars jointly organized by BKMEA and Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX), will focus on emerging trends, technological advancements, and future strategies for the sector.

Organizer said the exhibition will remain open to visitors from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, offering a comprehensive platform for business networking, knowledge exchange, and industry collaboration.
