Bangladesh further strengthens global leadership in green RMG manufacturing

Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector has further strengthened its position as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing, with three more factories achieving internationally recognized LEED certification, raising the country’s total number of certified green factories to 287.
According to industry sources, 124 factories in Bangladesh have now secured Platinum ratings, while 144 have achieved gold certification under the LEED green building standard issued by the U.S. Green Building Council.
With the latest additions, Bangladesh now hosts 53 of the world’s top 100 highest-scoring LEED-certified factories, reinforcing the country’s growing reputation for environmentally sustainable industrialization.
Among the newly certified factories, Big Boss Corporation Limited in Gazipur achieved Platinum certification with 90 points under the LEED BD+C: Warehouses and Distribution Centers v4 category.
Another Gazipur-based facility, Union Label & Accessories Ltd, a subsidiary of Union Group, secured Platinum certification with 85 points under the LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1 category.
Meanwhile, the joint industrial complex of Vertex Wear Ltd., Dress World Ltd. and Neo Fashion Ltd. in Savar earned Platinum certification with 81 points under the LEED BD+C: New Construction v4 category.
Industry experts say Bangladesh’s growing number of green factories reflects major investments in energy efficiency, water conservation, workplace safety and sustainable production practices. They noted that international buyers are increasingly prioritizing environmentally responsible sourcing, making green certification a key competitive advantage for the country’s apparel industry.
