Bangladesh urges quick implementation of BIMSTEC free trade area

On the meeting held yesterday, 14th March, Bangladesh had urged strongly to work significantly in order to finalize all the relevant agreement, so that free trade area can be finally implemented without any delay.

Senior Official’s meeting was held in Bangkok, foreign secretaries from all the BIMSTEC nations were present virtually including Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Mr. Masud Bin Momen. He had informed the meeting about the further progress made on behalf of the nation in trade, investment and development sector. It was the 23rd meeting of such kind. It expressed the “Rules of Procedure” for all the BIMSTEC mechanisms including administrative and financial matters.

This meeting had finalized the draft text of the agreement on Maritime Transport Cooperation which is expected to be approved in next Ministerial meeting which will be held in Bangkok online. Furthermore, BIMSTEC Bangkok version 2030 will be also be finalized at the next ministerial meeting.
