DHL to expand CFS facilities in Bangladesh
The German freight giant DHL Group has invested over €2 million to expand its dedicated Container Freight Station (CFS) space in Bangladesh with a view to cater successfully to the requirement of the Bangladesh readymade garment sector as it continues to grow in apparel exports.
According to the media reports, there is a scarcity of CFS in Bangladesh. CFS facilities help to pick up goods from multiple suppliers and consolidate them into a single container, subsequent to being shipped to the respective destinations.
But there are reportedly less than 20 CFSs across Bangladesh currently.
Media reported that the expansion of the DHL Global Forwarding dedicated CFS facilities will aid the growing demand for Bangladesh’s readymade garments worldwide.
Cluster Head of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, and Bhutan of DHL Global Forwarding, Fabian Rybka, said that the improved security, storage, and sorting processes at these CFS facilities will enable DHL to deliver high service quality to the customers while also ensuring it is in line with the EU/US quality standards.
