Bangladesh’s export to Brazil rises 26% in FY25

Bangladesh’s exports to Brazil reached $187 million in FY 2024-25, up 26% from $147 million in FY 2023-24, according to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). The growth continues a steady upward trend, with exports at $175 million in 2022-23 and $109.2 million in 2021-22. In July 2025 alone, shipments totalled $16 million.

Readymade garments—including jerseys, shirts, suits, jackets, and trousers—remain Bangladesh’s main export items. Brazil is emerging as one of Bangladesh’s fastest-growing markets, with exports jumping nearly 60% in 2022-23.

However, trade remains imbalanced. Brazil exported goods worth $2.66 billion to Bangladesh in 2023-24, mainly cane sugar, raw cotton, and soybeans. Diplomats note growing opportunities for Bangladesh to expand in textiles, jute goods, and leather, while also strengthening cotton imports from Brazil.

Experts suggest pursuing a free trade agreement (FTA) to sustain growth as Bangladesh prepares for its LDC graduation in 2026, when higher tariffs may erode competitiveness.
