Brazil to end 2024-25 cotton season with record exports

Brazil is set to close the 2024-25 cotton season with a record 2.82 million tons in exports—5% above the previous high of 2.68 million tons.
Key buyers were:
Vietnam (19%),
Pakistan (18%),
China (16%),
Bangladesh (15%),
Turkiye (12%),
Indonesia (6%) and
India (5%).
Despite the export surge, domestic cotton prices fell to their lowest since December 2024, pressured by harvest progress, surplus supply, weak demand, and lower global prices. The CEPEA/ESALQ Index dropped to BRL 4.0254 ($0.74/lb) in early August. Globally, the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) forecasts 2025-26 production at 25.91 million tons (+1.55% YoY), exceeding projected consumption of 25.56 million tons.
