High cost advance machineries are being introduced in textile fair

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is actively seeking new investments from China, particularly in high-value-added apparel items. However, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, currently on a weeklong visit to China, emphasized the importance of avoiding the relocation of old factories to Bangladesh. He expressed concerns that outdated machinery consumes excessive energy and poses environmental risks.

During his visit, Faruque Hassan is engaging with Chinese garment factories to attract investments and promote Bangladesh to international communities, retailers, and brands.

Highlighting the potential for investment in sports and athletic apparel items, Hassan noted that Bangladesh is still catching up in the production of these high-demand items compared to China.

Faruque Hassan cautioned against the relocation of aging Chinese garment factories to Bangladesh, citing the low production capacity and high energy consumption of old machinery. Bangladesh places a strong emphasis on an environmentally friendly production system and the adoption of modern technologies that offer higher production capacity.

Chinese garment manufacturers expressed interest in providing their designs and technologies to Bangladeshi apparel suppliers. Local manufacturers in Bangladesh are keen on collaborating with China, seeking assistance as Bangladeshi exporters focus increasingly on the export of value-added garments.
