Bangladesh RMG exports to non-traditional markets rise 6.79%

Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) exports to non-traditional markets grew by 6.79% year-on-year, reaching $6.04 billion during July–May of the current fiscal year, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) compiled by the BGMEA.
Non-traditional markets include all destinations excluding the EU, US, UK, and Canada. Notable growth was recorded in:
Turkey: +31.75%
India: +17.35%
Japan: +10.32%
However, exports to Russia, South Korea, the UAE, and Malaysia declined during this period.
Meanwhile, the EU remained the largest RMG export destination, accounting for 49.91% of total exports, or $18.25 billion, followed by the US with $7.03 billion (+19.23%), the UK with $4.04 billion (+3.96%), and Canada with $1.20 billion (+14.14%).
Within the EU, Germany led with $4.58 billion in imports, followed by Spain ($3.16 billion) and France ($2.00 billion). In terms of product categories, knitwear exports rose 10.98%, while woven garment exports increased by 9.30%. Overall, total RMG exports grew 10.20% year-on-year, reaching $36.56 billion in the July–May period.
