Vietnam approves first free trade zone in Da Nang to boost high-tech industry and trade

Vietnam has officially approved the establishment of its first Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Da Nang, marking a major step toward strengthening its position as a regional economic hub. The FTZ will cover 1,881 hectares and feature dedicated zones for logistics, trade, digital technology, and innovation, according to a government announcement.
The project, authorized through Decision No. 1142/QD-TTg signed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh on June 13, will be managed by the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones Authority (DHPIZA) under a streamlined “one-stop, on-site” administrative model.
Equipped with modern infrastructure, the Da Nang FTZ is expected to accelerate high-tech manufacturing, digital transformation, and improve Vietnam’s integration into Asia-Pacific supply chains.
In parallel, the government is also exploring the creation of an International Financial Center (IFC) in Da Nang. With its strategic coastal location, strong infrastructure, and supportive business environment, Da Nang is being positioned as a future regional hub for both economic and financial activities.
