EU due diligence law to hold brands, buyers, and exporters accountable

Experts say the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)—effective from 2029—will make brands, buyers, and exporters jointly accountable for human rights and environmental impacts across supply chains.
At a Dhaka training programme, speakers noted this could ensure fair pricing and responsible practices but warned Bangladesh must prepare with proper policies or risk losing export orders. Labour leaders stressed coordinated action among suppliers, unions, and policymakers to meet compliance requirements.
