Bangladesh Bank extends loan rescheduling facility for jute exporters

Bangladesh Bank has extended the loan rescheduling facility for raw jute exporters until December 31, 2025, allowing borrowers to reschedule their loans for the next two years with a 2% down payment based on outstanding loans as of December 31, 2024.
According to a circular issued recently, the decision was made in response to challenges faced by exporters in meeting the conditions set under earlier rescheduling measures. The central bank said the new directive is effective immediately and has been issued under the authority of Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
Previously, the Bangladesh Bank had issued a circular on March 31, 2024, requiring exporters to apply for loan rescheduling within six months. The latest extension is expected to provide much-needed relief to the jute sector, helping exporters stabilize operations amid continued global market volatility.
