Italian textile machinery makers strengthen presence at Colombiatex 2026

A strong contingent of Italian textile machinery manufacturers is set to participate in Colombiatex 2026, reaffirming Italy’s growing technological partnership with Colombia’s textile and apparel industry. The leading trade fair for the Colombian textile supply chain will take place in Medellín from January 27 to 29, 2026, with broad participation from members of ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers.
Despite a slowdown in Colombian textile machinery demand during 2024, recent figures point to a sharp recovery. Italian machinery exports to Colombia reached €6 million in the first half of 2025, representing a 48% increase year-on-year. If the momentum continues, exports could approach the record €18 million level achieved in 2022, underscoring Colombia’s importance as a key market in Latin America.
ACIMIT President Marco Salvadè noted that Colombia’s textile and clothing sector has recorded notable growth in recent years, supported by technological upgrades in which Italian machinery has frequently played a leading role. He emphasized that Colombiatex remains a strategic platform for Italian companies to strengthen long-term partnerships with Colombian textile manufacturers.
As in previous editions, ICE – Italian Trade Agency, in collaboration with ACIMIT, will organize a national Italian Pavilion at Pabellón Amarillo, featuring 22 Italian companies showcasing advanced solutions across spinning, knitting, finishing, digital printing, automation and sustainability-driven technologies. Additional ACIMIT member companies will also exhibit through individual stands or local representatives, further reinforcing Italy’s strong presence at the event.
The broad participation at Colombiatex 2026 highlights Italy’s continued commitment to supporting the modernization and competitiveness of Colombia’s textile industry through innovation, efficiency and high-performance machinery solutions.
