5 garment factories in Bangladesh receive LEED certification

Bangladesh strengthens its position as a global leader in green apparel manufacturing
Five more readymade garment factories in Bangladesh have earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, bringing the country’s total to 280 LEED-certified factories and reaffirming its status as a global leader in sustainable garment production.
With the latest certifications, Bangladesh now hosts 118 Platinum-rated and 143 Gold-rated LEED factories. Additionally, 52 factories rank among the top 100 highest-rated LEED-certified factories worldwide, reflecting the sector’s strong commitment to environmentally friendly industrial practices.
The newly certified factories include:
- Epic Garments Manufacturing Co Ltd Unit-7, Narayanganj – Gold, LEED BD+C: New Construction v4, 67 points
- Surma Garments Ltd, Dhaka – Gold, LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4, 71 points
- NAFA Apparels Ltd Unit-2, Dhamrai – Gold, LEED BD+C: New Construction v4, 65 points
- Winter Dress Limited, Savar – Platinum, LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1, 85 points
- Meher Garments Limited, Chattogram – Platinum, LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1, 89 points
Industry experts highlighted that these achievements demonstrate Bangladesh’s ongoing adoption of green technologies, energy efficiency, and sustainable production systems within the RMG sector.
Bangladesh continues to lead the world in green garment factories, with the sector increasingly prioritizing energy efficiency, water conservation, reduced carbon emissions, and improved workplace standards, ensuring both sustainable development and global competitiveness.
