LYCRA participates in United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle network Annual meeting
The LYCRA Company, a global leader in innovative and sustainable fiber solutions, is a 2024 thought leadership partner of the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network. On June 3, LYCRA’s sustainability director, Jean Hegedus, participated in a panel at the UN Headquarters in New York, discussing sustainable practices in the apparel industry. Hegedus highlighted LYCRA’s collaboration with Qore® to develop bio-derived LYCRA® fiber, which could reduce the carbon footprint of LYCRA® fiber by up to 44%. This new spandex, available in early 2025, will be 70% renewable and derived from dent corn.
The annual meeting fosters collaboration among media, industry stakeholders, governments, and UN entities to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the fashion sector.
